Description:

The BSc (Hons) Marketing and Advertising program is designed with input from leading industry experts, ensuring relevance and alignment with current market needs. Students will explore various aspects of marketing, including:

  • The role and function of marketing in modern business
  • Contemporary and digital marketing strategies
  • Consumer behavior and market research
  • Data-driven marketing, including AI and other technologies
  • Brand building and integrated marketing communications
  • Customer relationship management and customer experience

Outline:

The program is structured over three years of full-time study and includes core and optional modules.


Year 2:


Core Modules:

  • Customer Insights and Market Research: Covers the importance of research and insight in supporting marketing and business decision-making, focusing on practical application of traditional and emergent research techniques.
  • The Art of CX and UX: Focuses on customer experience and user experience in the digital environment.
  • Marketing for Sales Success: Covers modern selling strategies, sales management, and technology in the sales process.
  • Work Experience: Offers the opportunity to gain practical skills and knowledge through work placement.

Year 3:


Core Modules:

  • My Marketing Project: Provides the opportunity to apply accumulated knowledge and skills to a self-directed, in-depth project on a contemporary marketing topic.
  • Brands, Buyers and Behaviours: Explores the issues of buyer behaviour and brand development using the university's BRAINS (Behavioural Research Analytics In Neurotechnological Systems) lab equipment.

Optional Modules:

(Choose two)

  • CRM and Customer Success: Covers customer relationship management (CRM) as a strategy for acquiring, enhancing, and retaining customers.
  • Marketing for Social Change: Examines how marketing can be used to promote socially desirable behaviour change.

Assessment:

Assessment methods vary based on the module, but commonly include:

  • Coursework: 90% in Year 1, 80% in Year 2, 100% in Year 3
  • Practical: 10% in Year 1, 20% in Year 2
  • Feedback: Feedback on assessments is provided within 20 working days.

Teaching:

The program is delivered through various teaching methods:

  • Lectures: Provide a foundational understanding of core concepts.
  • Guided Independent Study: Encourages students to develop their research and self-directed learning skills.
