Program Outline
Outline:
The curriculum consists of 88 hours of credit, including:
- Required Courses (40 hours): These include a professional or research externship, and 18 hours of dissertation research within the Manship School.
- Electives (12 hours): Students complete 12 hours of elective courses in mass communication.
- Advanced Statistics/Methodology (6 hours): Students take six hours of additional advanced statistics or methodology courses.
- Outside Area of Concentration (12 hours): Students choose 12 hours of coursework in an outside area of concentration.
- Master's Program Credit: With approval, students may receive credit for some coursework completed as part of their master's program.
- Comprehensive Examination: Students must pass a comprehensive examination, which has both written and oral components.
