The Graduate Certificate in African Studies is a 12-credit hour program offered by the Department of African & African-American Studies (AAAS) and The Kansas African Studies Center (KASC) at the University of Kansas. - AAAS 802 Introduction to Africana Studies: African: 3 credit hours
- Electives: 9 credit hours (three courses)
- Elective Course Requirements:
- Students design a coherent sequence of three elective courses in consultation with the Director of Graduate Studies.
- All courses must be at the 500-level or above.
- At least one elective course (3 credit hours) must be at the 700-level or above.
- Only courses with an Africa focus may count towards the required hours.
- No more than three hours of directed readings or independent study may be counted.
