Degree Overview:

The Master of Education in Educational Leadership (MEd) program at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is designed for individuals seeking leadership positions and administrative careers in education.

Objectives:

• Equip students with the theoretical and conceptual knowledge base required for principalship and Florida Level I Educational Leadership certification.
• Prepare students to address the Florida Educational Leadership Standards and the Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE) competencies and indicators.

Program Description:

• The MEd program requires a minimum of 36 credit hours beyond the bachelor's degree, including 30 credit hours of core courses and 6 credit hours of required administrative internship.
• Courses can be taken in any sequence, except for EDA 6946, which must be taken during the last two semesters.
• The program has potential ties to professional licensure or certification in the field.

Assessment:

• Students are required to pass the FELE for graduation.
• The program culminates in an administrative internship (EDA 6946) where students document their experience with the Florida Principal Leadership Standards (FPLS) and FELE competencies.
• A grade of A or B in the internship is required for graduation.

Careers:

• The program prepares students for leadership positions and administrative careers in education, including principalship.

Other:

• The program includes a modified leadership core program for individuals holding a graduate degree in a discipline other than Educational Administration, Administration, Supervision, or Educational Leadership.
• Students in the program pay a $32 equipment fee each semester.
• The administrative internship is an independent learning activity that takes place in a regular K-12 public school setting.
• Students are required to document their internship experience with the FPLS and FELE competencies.
