Program Overview

The Dance Intensive program at Cornish College of the Arts provides 13-18-year-olds with a comprehensive dance education. Over eight weeks, students explore composition, improvisation, and a range of dance techniques, developing a solid foundation in conceptual understanding and physical awareness. Taught by experienced faculty, the program prepares aspiring dancers for college auditions and professional careers in contemporary dance.

Program Outline

Outline:

The Dance Intensive program runs from June 8th to August 2nd, Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 12 pm. The course costs $3,160.00. The program includes:

  • Development of a foundation of conceptual understanding: This foundation will help students to work more deeply in the creative process curriculum.
  • An array of dance techniques: These techniques include contemporary, ballet, street forms, and social dance forms.
  • Experiential anatomy and conditioning: These elements will help students to develop physical awareness and enhance their work in technique courses.
  • Core faculty methods: These methods will be integrated to create a foundation of conceptual understanding and physical awareness.

  • Contemporary dance: This will help students to develop the necessary skills of a professional dancer.
  • Audition preparation for college programs: Fridays are dedicated to this preparation.
