Program Overview
This online short course introduces students to the practical applications of BIM in architectural design, construction management, and building lifecycle management. It explores the challenges of interoperability and provides a critical understanding of BIM's value throughout a building's life cycle. The course is accredited by RICS, CABE, and CIOB and is delivered by the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment.

Degree Overview:
This short course provides an introduction to the application of BIM in practice. It aims to provide students with a critical understanding of BIM's utilization in the architectural design phase, including concept to detail design, smart data workflow, and its application in managing activity during the construction phase. The program also explores BIM's value throughout the occupied life cycle of a building and evaluates the challenges in providing interoperable building information models across disciplines.
Assessment:
The course is assessed through participation in online discussion forums, online group work, and one main piece of individual written coursework.
Teaching:
The course is delivered through online learning. Learning methods include weekly online discussion forums, study guides, and access to all learning materials, activities, and reading resources via the module. The virtual learning environment, CampusMoodle, provides lectures and course materials. Students will have a dedicated e-advisor to assist them with the online material.
