Program Overview
This Applied Psychology degree provides a comprehensive understanding of psychology, research methods, and criminal justice. It prepares students for careers in forensic psychology, criminal justice, and other fields involving psychology. Graduates may pursue postgraduate studies in community psychology, counselling, psychotherapy, or criminology.

Introduction to Applied Psychology:
This module will introduce students to the basic approaches and theories within psychology. Students will also consider issues of application in the field.
Developmental Psychology:
This module will cover key theories and topics in child development and lifespan development. Students will examine issues from infancy through middle-childhood to adulthood.
Psychological Investigations – Foundations:
This module will introduce students to quantitative and qualitative research skills and methods used in psychology. Students will develop expertise in study design, data collection and analysis, as well as critical thinking and communicating complex information.
Psychological Investigations – Practical Applications:
Building on the foundations of Psychological Investigations – Foundations, this module will enable students to further develop their range of quantitative and qualitative research skills and methods used in psychology.
Criminal Justice Matters:
This module will introduce students to the criminal justice system in England and Wales. Students will explore the main institutions and agencies, such as the police, courts, and prison service. The module will also cover some of the key debates and policies relating to sentencing, victims, and crime prevention.
Theories of Crime:
This module will examine criminological theories. Students will gain an understanding of the political, social, and cultural contexts in which different theories were developed. The module will also cover the strengths, weaknesses, and biases of different theories in explaining crime and deviance.
