The Songwriting Certificate program at Shenandoah University Conservatory is designed for students who are interested in writing and producing their own music.


Content:

The program focuses on developing strong songwriting skills through the study of lyrics, melody, harmony, music theory, and entrepreneurial strategies. Students also gain knowledge of popular song traditions in the United States and beyond, which helps them to appreciate diverse artistic traditions.


Structure:

The program consists of a total of 12 credit hours, including 3 credit hours of core courses and 9 credit hours of electives.


Course Schedule:

The program is offered on a flexible schedule, with courses available during the day, evening, and weekends.


Individual Modules:
