Degree Overview:
The Construction Techniques program at Conestoga College is a one-year certificate program designed to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to pursue a career in the construction industry.
Objectives:

Outline:
The Construction Techniques program is divided into four seven-week blocks, each focusing on a different trade:
- Block 1: Carpentry
- Introduction to carpentry tools and equipment
- Basic carpentry skills and techniques
- Building basic structures
- Reading and interpreting construction drawings
- Block 2: Electrical
- Introduction to electrical safety and regulations
- Basic electrical theory and principles
- Wiring techniques and practices

- Block 3: HVAC
- Introduction to HVAC systems and components
- Basic principles of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning
- Installation and maintenance of HVAC systems
- Troubleshooting common HVAC problems

Entry Requirements:
Canadian Students:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with the following courses:
- Grade 12 English (C or higher)
- Grade 12 Mathematics (C or higher)
- Two additional Grade 12 college or university preparation courses (C or higher)
- Applicants who have completed the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) with a minimum of 432 hours of training in a related trade will also be considered for admission.
- Mature students (19 years or older) who do not meet the above academic requirements may be considered for admission based on a combination of life experience, prior learning, and successful completion of an approved academic upgrading program.
International Students:
- A secondary school diploma or equivalent from your home country, with strong academic standing in relevant subjects such as mathematics and English.
- Completion of an internationally recognized English language proficiency test with a minimum score as follows:
- IELTS: Overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band score below 6.0
- TOEFL iBT: 88 overall with a minimum of 20 in each section
- CAEL: Overall score of 70 with a minimum of 60 in each section
- PTE Academic: Overall score of 58 with a minimum of 50 in each section
- Applicants with prior post-secondary education may be considered for advanced standing.
