Construction Techniques - Brick and Stone (Waterloo)
Degree Overview:
This program provides in-depth theoretical and hands-on training for the brick and stone masonry trade. You will learn the skills to create walls and features with brick, stone, and other masonry materials, using both advanced power tools and classic hand tools. The program covers various aspects of the trade, including heritage, refractory, and new commercial and residential masonry.
Objectives:
- Develop the skills and knowledge necessary to work as a brick and stone mason.
- Gain experience with various masonry materials and tools.
- Prepare for a career in the construction industry.
Outline:
The program consists of two semesters, with a total of 14 weeks of instruction. Each week includes 30 hours of classroom and lab time.

- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with a minimum of six 4U/M courses, including:
- English (ENG4U)
- Mathematics (MDM4U)
- One of Physics (SPH4U), Chemistry (SCH4U), or Biology (SBI4U)
- Three additional 4U/M courses in any subject
International Overseas Students (Outside the EU):
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with a minimum of six 4U/M courses, including:
- English (ENG4U)
- Mathematics (MDM4U)
- One of Physics (SPH4U), Chemistry (SCH4U), or Biology (SBI4U)
- Three additional 4U/M courses in any subject
- A minimum overall average of 70% in the six 4U/M courses
- Proof of English language proficiency:

Language Proficiency Requirements:

Applicants with a strong academic record and relevant work experience may be considered for admission even if they do not meet the minimum English language proficiency requirements. However, they will be required to take an English language assessment test and may be required to complete an English language bridging program before starting the program.
