Degree Overview:
This graduate certificate program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary for a successful career in public service. The program focuses on the inner workings of government at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels, covering topics such as public ethics, policy formulation, government and public sector structures, leadership, and management. Students will develop critical thinking, analytical communication, and problem-solving abilities to pursue a career as a public servant. The optional co-op stream provides students with valuable real-world experience through a co-op work term.

Fall Term
- Introduction to Public Service Explore the principles, values, and ethics of public service in Canada.
- Government and Public Sector Structures Examine the different levels of government in Canada and their respective roles and responsibilities.
- Policy Formulation and Analysis
- Public Sector Management and Leadership Develop the skills and knowledge needed to effectively manage and lead in the public sector.
Winter Term
- Public Finance and Budgeting
- Human Resources Management in the Public Sector Explore the unique challenges and considerations of human resource management in the public sector.
- Public Procurement and Contracting
- Program Evaluation and Performance Measurement Develop the skills to evaluate public sector programs and measure their effectiveness.
Optional Co-op Work Term:
Students in the co-op stream will participate in a paid work term in a relevant public sector organization, gaining valuable practical experience and applying the knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom.

For Canadian Students:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with a minimum overall average of 65% or mature student status.
- English: Grade 12 College English or equivalent.
- Mathematics: Grade 12 College Math or equivalent.
- Additional Subjects: Completion of one of the following subjects:

- High School Completion: Equivalent to an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with a minimum overall average of 65% depending on student's country of origin.
- English: Equivalent to Grade 12 College English or the following test scores:
- IELTS: Overall band score of 6.0 with no band less than 5.5.
- TOEFL: Internet-based test (iBT): Total score of 79 with a minimum score of 20 in reading, listening, and writing, and 18 in speaking.
- Duolingo English Test: 100 points overall.
- Mathematics: Equivalent to Grade 12 College Math or the following test scores:
- O-Level Mathematics: Grade C or above.
- A-Level Mathematics: Grade D or above.
- SAT: 550 or above.
- Additional Subjects: Equivalent to one of the listed subjects for Canadian students.
- Academic Transcript: A complete academic transcript with original language and an official English translation.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
For English as a Second Language (ESL):
- English: Equivalent to Grade 12 College English or the following test scores:
- IELTS: Overall band score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0.
- TOEFL: Internet-based test (iBT): Total score of 86 with a minimum score of 21 in reading and writing, and 20 in listening and speaking.
- Duolingo English Test: 105 points overall.
For Conestoga English as a Second Language (CESL) Program:
- English: Minimum required score will be determined based on the student's individual needs and previous English language experience.
- Applicants with relevant work experience may be considered for admission.
