Program Overview
This part-time engineering program allows working professionals to advance their knowledge and skills while earning a BEng degree. Designed in partnership with employers, it offers five pathways and a work-based project to meet industry-specific needs. Students benefit from personal and professional development, while employers gain up-skilled engineers and improved workplace performance.

- Part-time (Hons) program
- Allows to gain advanced engineering knowledge and skills while currently working within the field
- Helps those looking to move on from and Engineering Foundation degree, enabling you to top-up your qualifications to a full BEng degree while still earning and developing workplace skills
- The course is fully designed in partnership with potential employers to best address their needs during the program
Objectives:
- Qualify for Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status
- Develop advanced engineering knowledge and understanding according to industry/employer required
- Meet academic requirements in line with industry specific learning outcomes such as those from:
- IEng class of membership
- UK-SPEC engineering specific learning outcomes
- QAA Engineering Benchmark
Program Structure:
- Structured around one of 5 different pathways: BEng (Hons.) Professional Engineering
- BEng (Hons.) Professional Engineering (Power Systems Engineering)
- BEng (Hons.) Professional Engineering (Control Systems Engineering)
- BEng (Hons.) Professional Engineering (Manufacturing Engineering)
- BEng (Hons.) Professional Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)
- Core Modules vary significantly between disciplines in order to cover specific industry need. Some examples and overlap do exist between the disciplines for instance both Power Systems Engineering and Control Systems Engineering include:

- Final Work Based Project (PE3WBP)
- Optional Modules vary even further and can be viewed on the course or discipline specific program guide
Other:
- Students often work full-time during their enrollment in this program (35–40 hours) depending on employer needs
- There is no placement years, however the nature of the program is fully work based through your job in partnership with your employer who plays an active role in your studies

Professional Engineering course content:
- Delivered completely through the Aston University professional engineering center’s Virtual Learning Environment (Blackboard) using lecture notes, book chapters, case studies, and work-based projects

Home tuition fee is £9,250 If the programme is taken over two years, then the fee payable is £4,625 Payment by instalments is available to students paying their own fees. Overseas tuition fee: £19,000 Again, this is payable in instalments. Tuition fees are reviewed annually and may increase in subsequent years in line with inflation linked to the Retail Price Index (RPI) to take account of the University’s increased costs of delivering the Programme. When undertaking a placement year a placement year fee applies.
