Through practical experiences and industry collaborations, graduates are prepared for careers in sport business, event management, and sport development. The program is accredited by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences and boasts a high graduate employment rate.

Structure:

  • The program is full-time and lasts for three years.

  • Orientation to Higher Education and Research in the Sport and Exercise Sciences

  • Year 2 & 3:
  • Students choose from a range of optional modules, which vary from year to year.

Module Descriptions:

  • Orientation to Higher Education and Research in the Sport and Exercise Sciences: Introduces students to the university environment and research methods in sport and exercise sciences.
  • The Psychology of Sport, Exercise and Skill Acquisition: Explores the psychological factors influencing performance, learning, and motivation in sport and exercise.
  • Sport, Culture and Society: Examines the social, cultural, and historical contexts of sport.
  • Sport, Exercise and Fitness: Provides a foundation in exercise physiology, training principles, and fitness assessment.

Assessment:

  • The program uses a variety of assessment methods, including essays, reports, portfolios, presentations, the final year project (dissertation), and written examinations.
  • The assessment methods aim to evaluate students' acquisition of relevant theory and development of academic and practical skills.

Teaching:

  • Teaching methods include practical experiences, workshops, seminars, lectures, and field trips.
  • Students receive tutorial support and engage in independent study outside of contact hours.
  • The teaching team consists of highly qualified academics with diverse expertise in sport and exercise science, health, PE, and coaching.
