Outline:

This course is aimed at design engineers and technical staff working within the automotive industry. It also caters to engineers and technology enthusiasts who desire in-depth knowledge through hands-on experience. The course will be delivered over five days, with a focus on hands-on learning through laboratory sessions and demonstrations alongside theoretical lectures. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive certificates.


Core content:

  • Review of autonomy levels in autonomous vehicles
  • Understanding and introduction to autonomous sensors (Lidar, Radar, Vision system, Ultrasonic, Sonar, IR, IMU)
  • Data fusion and decision making using soft computing techniques
  • Introduction to IoT devices and working principles of V2X technology with different wireless protocols
  • IoT data management and handling
  • Introduction to electric vehicle technology and challenges

Teaching:

The course will be led by Dr. Irfan Ullah Khan, Dr. Nalinda Hettiarachchi, Prof. Gareth Appleby-Thomas, Dr. John Economou, and Mr. David Diskett. Dr. Irfan will be the course coordinator. The program focuses on interactive teaching methods and will incorporate discussions, case studies, and group activities alongside lectures and laboratory sessions.
