This course is aimed at design engineers and technical staff working within the automotive industry. It also caters to engineers and technology enthusiasts who desire in-depth knowledge through hands-on experience. The course will be delivered over five days, with a focus on hands-on learning through laboratory sessions and demonstrations alongside theoretical lectures. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive certificates.

  • Review of autonomy levels in autonomous vehicles
  • Understanding and introduction to autonomous sensors (Lidar, Radar, Vision system, Ultrasonic, Sonar, IR, IMU)
  • Data fusion and decision making using soft computing techniques
  • Introduction to IoT devices and working principles of V2X technology with different wireless protocols
  • IoT data management and handling
  • Introduction to electric vehicle technology and challenges

The course will be led by Dr. Irfan Ullah Khan, Dr. Nalinda Hettiarachchi, Prof. Gareth Appleby-Thomas, Dr. John Economou, and Mr. David Diskett. Dr. Irfan will be the course coordinator. Entry Requirements:


EU Home Students:

  • Applicants should hold a good honours degree (minimum 2:2) in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant industrial experience is also desirable.
  • Applicants without the required academic qualifications may be considered on the basis of relevant professional experience.

International Overseas Students (Outside the EU):

  • Applicants should hold a good honours degree (minimum 2:2) in a relevant engineering or science discipline from a recognized university outside the UK.
  • Applicants should have an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant industrial experience is also desirable.
  • Applicants without the required academic qualifications may be considered on the basis of relevant professional experience.

Language Proficiency Requirements:
