Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:


Baccalaureate degree:

  • Students must possess a baccalaureate degree in engineering or a closely related field, such as biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or physics.
  • This degree must be acquired from a regionally accredited college or university.

Prerequisite coursework:

  • Applicants with non-engineering or computer science backgrounds must have completed Calculus 1 through 3 (equivalent to UIC's MATH 180, MATH 181, and MATH 210) and 10 semester hours in sciences.
  • All prerequisite coursework must be completed with a grade of C or better.

Computer programming languages:

  • While not mandatory, a course in programming is strongly recommended.
  • Python is the preferred language for this program.
  • Online Python courses can be taken to prepare for the program.

Grade point average:

  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.00 for their final 60 semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of undergraduate study.
