The program provides students with the opportunity to further develop their understanding and expertise in advanced electronics subjects such as microelectronics, sensors, signal processing, hardware and software design, communications, and digital systems.
Offers the chance to deepen knowledge gained at undergraduate level and specialize in a chosen area within Electronics.
Aims to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge to pursue careers in research or take up prestigious positions in the electronics industry.

Enable students to advance their understanding of theoretical concepts within Electronics.
Develop practical skills in designing, analyzing, and implementing various electronics systems and components.
Provide opportunities to conduct original research in a chosen area of electronics.
Prepare students for successful careers in research or industry positions focusing on Electronics.

Outline:

Focuses on advanced topics within Electronics, building upon the foundation established in undergraduate studies.
Offers specialized knowledge in areas such as:
Microelectronics
Sensors
Signal processing
Hardware and software design
Communications
Digital systems

Students can enroll full-time (1 year) or part-time (2 or 3 years).
Taught modules are delivered over two semesters during the academic year.
In the first year, full-time students take modules in both semesters and complete an independent research project and dissertation in the summer period.
Part-time students can complete the program over two or three years, taking at least two modules per year.
Upon successful completion of six taught modules (120 credits) and an individual research project (60 credits), an MSc is awarded.
Completion of six modules (120 credits) leads to a Postgraduate Diploma.
Three modules (60 credits) result in a Postgraduate Certificate.

Two core modules are compulsory for all students:
MEMS Devices and Technology
Microelectronics Devices and Technology
Students choose four additional modules from the following options:
Intelligent Systems and Control
Wireless Communications
Wireless Sensor Systems
Control and Estimation Theory
Digital Signal Processing
Each module consists of two hours of lectures per week.
Some modules include additional tutorial sessions or laboratory exercises.
All modules provide learning materials and resources via a virtual learning environment (Canvas).

Each student carries out an individual research project under the supervision of an academic staff member.
A wide range of project proposals are offered each year, covering diverse areas within Electronics.
Top students may have the opportunity to publish their research findings in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.

Assessment methods may include coursework, written examinations, and project dissertations.
Specific details on assessment for each module will be provided by the respective instructors.

Instruction is delivered by experienced academics who are active researchers in their respective fields.
Students may have the opportunity to conduct their research project within an ongoing research group, gaining exposure to cutting-edge advancements in Electronics.

International and EU students require a deposit to secure a place on the program.
A limited number of fully-funded places may be available for eligible applicants resident in Northern Ireland.

There are no specific additional course costs associated with this programme.

EU citizens in the EU Settlement Scheme, with settled status, will be charged the NI or GB tuition fee based on where they are ordinarily resident.
EU students who are ROI nationals resident in ROI are eligible for NI tuition fees.
EU Other students (excludes Republic of Ireland nationals living in GB, NI or ROI) are charged tuition fees in line with international fees.
