Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:


Domestic Students:

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated relevant professional or educational experience can be considered in lieu of a degree at the discretion of the program manager.

English Language Requirements:

For applicants whose first language is not English, proof of English proficiency is required:

  • NCEA Level 3 with University Entrance
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma or Cambridge A-level qualification with English as the teaching language
  • Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA)
  • Trinity College London Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL)
  • Successful completion of primary and secondary education in English-speaking countries like New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Ireland, South Africa, the UK, and the US.
  • Successful completion of at least five years of secondary education in English-speaking countries mentioned above.
  • Bachelor's degree, Graduate Certificate, Diploma, Honours degree, Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma, Master's or Doctoral degree obtained in English from institutions in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Ireland, South Africa, the UK, or the US.
  • Acceptable scores on internationally recognized English proficiency tests:
  • IELTS Academic: 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5
  • TOEFL Paper-based: 550 with 5 TWE
  • TOEFL Internet-based: 60 with 18 in writing
  • Cambridge English: B2 First, B2 First for Schools, C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency with a score of 169 and no less than 162 in each skill
  • OET: Minimum Grade C or 200 in all sub-tests
  • NZCEL: Expiring Level 4 (Academic) or Current Level 4 (Academic)
  • PTE Academic: 50 with no band below 42
  • Language Cert: C1 Expert International ESOL Written (LRW) PASS with no less than 25/50 in each skill and Spoken (S) PASS
  • Trinity ISE: ISE II with distinction in any band

International Students:

  • Meet the same entry requirements as domestic students.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

  • International students whose first language is not English must fulfill the same English language proficiency requirements outlined above for domestic students.
  • Applicants without the required academic qualifications may be considered based on their relevant work experience and prior learning.
