Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:


New Zealand Domestic Students:

  • New Zealand University Entrance qualification (or equivalent), OR
  • National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 2 with a minimum of 52 credits at Level 2 and 2 credits in Literacy, OR
  • Completion of at least one year full-time study at a New Zealand university or polytechnic or private training establishment, including successful completion of at least four units at Level 5, 7 or 8, OR
  • Completion of a minimum one year full-time of relevant work experience in conjunction with successful completion of an approved New Zealand Certificate in a relevant industry, OR
  • Applicants with other qualifications and/or relevant work experience will be considered on an individual basis.

International Students:

  • International Baccalaureate: Completion of the IB Diploma with a minimum of 24 points, with at least 4 points in each subject at Higher Level
  • Other International Qualifications: Completion of equivalent qualifications to New Zealand University Entrance (or equivalent), including a minimum GPA of 2.4.
  • Specific requirements vary depending on the country of origin.
  • International students who don't meet the entry requirements for English language proficiency must complete an approved English language program prior to starting their studies at SIT.
  • Specific English language course options are available for international students to help them meet the required level of English proficiency.
