Entry Requirements
Domestic Students:
School Leavers
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
- Achieved NCEA Level 2.
- NCEA Requirements:
- 60 credits at Level 2 or above.
- 20 credits from any level.
- Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy requirements:
- Literacy: 10 credits at Level 1 or above, either through specified assessment standards, English for Academic Purposes unit standards 22750 and 22751, or a package of three literacy unit standards.
- Numeracy: 10 credits at Level 1 or above, either through specified achievement standards or a package of three numeracy unit standards.
Mature Applicants (over 20 years of age):
- Considered if they can demonstrate the ability to succeed in the program.
- Evidence of:
- Completion of a program at Level 3 or above in a related discipline.
- Employment in the related sector for one or more years.
- May be admitted subject to:
- Approval from the Head of Faculty in consultation with the Programme Manager.
- Personal commitment and belief in one’s ability to succeed.
English Language Requirements (for non-native English speakers or students from countries where the medium of instruction is not English):
- One of the following:
- NCEA Level 3 with University Entrance.
- Cambridge A- level
- Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA).
- Trinity College London Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL).

- Cambridge English: B2 First or B2First for schools (162 total, 154+ per skill).
- OET: C grade or 200+ in all subtests.
- NZCEL expiring Level:
- a) 3 (Academic).
- b) Current: 3 (Academic) or 3 (Applied).
- Pearson PTE (Academic): 42 overall with no score below 36.
- Language Cert B2 Communicator:
- International ESOL Written (LRW): Pass with 25+/50 in each skill and Spoken (S) Pass.
