Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:


Domestic Students (New Zealand Citizens and Permanent Residents):

  • Minimum GPA of 5.0 in either the Bachelor of Dance Studies (Honours) or the Postgraduate Diploma in Dance Studies from the University of Auckland.
  • Submission of a research proposal: This proposal should demonstrate your ability to undertake advanced study in community dance.
  • Additional CV and/or interview: May be required at the program's discretion.

International Students:

  • **One year of postgraduate study in dance studies following an undergraduate degree, OR a one-year postgraduate degree demonstrating ability to undertake advanced study in community dance.
  • GPE of 5.0 in your previous postgraduate qualification.
  • Submission of a research proposal: As with domestic students, this demonstrates your capacity for advanced community dance study.
  • CV and/or interview: Similar to domestic students, may be required at the program's discretion.
  • IELTS Academic score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0: Alternatively, other recognized English proficiency tests may be acceptable.

Other Pathways:

  • The University's Postgraduate Diploma in Dance Studies (PGDipDanceSt) is a recommended preparatory program for this Master's degree.
