This two-week intensive program offers object-based study of Asian Art at the British Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum. Participants will learn from curators and explore a wide range of Asian Art, including South Asia, China, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, the Islamic world, and the Buddhist world. The program includes eight case studies, a mid-course reflection essay, and a final analytical essay and curatorial proposal.

  • This two-week intensive program offers object-based study of Asian Art.
  • The program takes place annually in July.
  • You will visit the British Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum and learn from curators.
  • The program covers a wide range of Asian Art, including South Asia, China, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, the Islamic world, and the Buddhist world.
  • Each week focuses on a specific theme in art history or museum curation.
  • The program includes eight case studies:
  • Each case study includes a lecture, seminar, and museum/gallery visit.
  • Case studies provide context for the objects studied.
  • You will actively participate in discussions and presentations.

  • You can join this program independently or as part of the SOAS-Alphawood Postgraduate Diploma in Asian Art.

Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • A strong academic record, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Evidence of English language proficiency, such as an IELTS score of 6.5 or above.
