Entry Requirements:
- Music Theory Admission Audition: Successful completion of the Music Theory Admission Audition is required for all students applying to the Music, B.M. : Theory Concentration. This audition assesses your musical skills and aptitude for theoretical studies.
- High School Coursework: You must have successfully completed the following high school courses:
- English: 4 units
- Mathematics: 3 units (including Algebra I and Geometry)
- Social Studies: 3 units
- Science: 3 units (including one laboratory course)
- Foreign Language: 2 units (in the same language)
- Fine Arts: 1 unit (in music, art, theatre, or dance)
- Electives: 3 units
- Minimum GPA: Minimum high school GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent.
- Standardized Test Scores: ACT or SAT scores are required for all applicants. Students with a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher may submit either ACT or SAT scores. Students with a high school GPA below 3.5 must submit both ACT and SAT scores.
International Students:
In addition to the above requirements, international students must also meet the following criteria:
- English Language Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in English through one of the following:
- TOEFL score of 80 or higher (internet-based test)
- IELTS score of 6.5 or higher
- Completion of a university-level English language program with a satisfactory grade : Theory Concentration program. However, students may be required to take additional English language courses if their proficiency is not deemed sufficient for successful academic performance.
- Students who do not meet all of the above entry requirements may be eligible for conditional admission.
- Students who have completed an associate's degree or higher may be eligible for transfer credit.
