Objectives:

  • Provide a pathway for career advancement to individuals holding an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.)
  • degree in Renewable Energy Technology.
  • Augment students' technical expertise with leadership skills applicable to their specific professional contexts.

Admission Requirements:

  • Must have a 2.25 GPA.
  • Must first obtain an applied associate's degree from an approved A.A.S.
  • program.
  • Eligibility of a student’s A.A.S.
  • degree will be determined by a committee within the Renewable Energy Program’s administrative unit upon admission.

Program Description:

  • The B.A.A.S.
  • in Renewable Energy program is designed to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in leadership roles within the renewable energy industry.
  • The program combines technical coursework with leadership development and general education requirements to provide a well-rounded educational experience.
  • Graduates of the program will be prepared to pursue careers in areas such as project management, business development, and policy analysis.

Outline:


Course Requirements:

  • Students will complete any additional core curriculum courses required for a four-year degree, up to 33 A.A.S.
  • SCH in the student’s A.A.S. Occupational Specialty, 34 SCH of Renewable Energy Core, 11 SCH of TTU and College of Arts & Sciences requirements, and any electives needed to complete the 120 SCH needed for graduation; 40 upper-level SCH will be required.
  • Any entering student who has not completed two years of a single foreign language in high school must complete at least two semesters at the first-year college level.
  • The specific courses required for the program are listed in the program's curriculum guide.

Course Schedule:

  • The program is offered on a semester basis, with classes typically starting in the fall and spring semesters.
  • Students can expect to take 4-5 courses per semester.

  • The Renewable Energy Core consists of the following modules:
  • RE 3100 - Renewable Energy Modeling Lab
  • RE 3300 - Renewable Energy Science and Technology I
  • RE 3310 - Renewable Energy Economics and Finance
  • RE 3301 - Renewable Energy Science and Technology II
  • RE 3315 - Renewable Energy and the Environment
  • RE 4300 - Renewable Energy Grid Integration
  • RE 4323 - Meteorology for Renewable Energy
  • RE 4310 - Renewable Energy Modeling and Design
  • RE 4311 - Renewable Energy Law, Policy & Regulation
  • Students will also choose a Jr./Sr.
  • elective from the following areas:
  • Language, Philosophy, and Culture
  • Social and Behavioral Sciences

  • Students are required to complete a Global Component, which can be satisfied through either a study abroad experience or an internship with an international company.
