The Astrophysics Concentration program shares many similarities with the professional concentration in Physics, including the same mathematics requirements and similar physics course requirements. However, it distinguishes itself by including 20 hours of astronomy courses (ASTR) in addition to the choice between PHYS 4312 (Electromagnetism II) or PHYS 4350 (Relativity). The program emphasizes communication literacy and requires completion of four designated courses: PHYS 2305 (Computation for the Physical Sciences), PHYS 3304 ( Intermediate Physics Laboratory), PHYS 3401 (Optics), and PHYS 4306 (Advanced Mathematical Methods in Physics). To further enhance their education, students in this concentration are strongly encouraged to minor in mathematics and participate in undergraduate research opportunities.
