Data Science MSc Apprenticeship


Degree Overview:

This unique apprenticeship program aims to equip students with the knowledge and values required for a successful technical career as a data scientist. The program emphasizes leadership skills development, empowering graduates to manage complex data science projects and progress in their careers.


Outline:

The program is part-time, spanning 27 months and divided into two semesters per year. The first year covers core modules, with the second year encompassing the individual project. Each module requires one day of attendance, scheduled during weekdays (09:00 to 18:00).

  • Principles of Data Science (15 credits): Focuses on the foundations of data science, including problem identification, knowledge representation, and inference.
  • Machine Learning (15 credits): Introduces modern machine learning techniques for analyzing large datasets, applicable across diverse fields like graph mining and signal processing.
  • Big Data (15 credits): Teaches methods and tools for capturing, organizing, searching, and analyzing large data volumes.

Academic Qualifications:

  • UK first or upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent) in a subject area such as computing, mathematics, physics, engineering, information science, economics, or a related discipline with mathematical and computational content.
  • Applicants with degrees in business, economics, psychology, and health will also be considered if they demonstrate some statistical, mathematical, and computer scripting aptitude through qualifications, courses, and experience.
  • A lower class degree may be considered with relevant work experience, but this is at the discretion of the admissions team.

Other Requirements:

  • Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics (usually GCSE)
  • Employment within an organization that supports your enrolment in the degree as part of your Digital and Technology Solutions Specialist (Data Analytics Specialist) training.
  • Proof of right to work in the UK (UK or EU national).

The Apprenticeship Levy covers roles in organizations in England.
