Program Overview


The Undergraduate Communications Pathway – REAL Certificate is an accelerated English language program that prepares students for undergraduate study. It combines English language instruction with undergraduate coursework, allowing students to transition smoothly into university-level expectations and reduce their overall program length.

It allows students to begin taking undergraduate courses while completing their final semester of the IEP. This helps them become familiar with college-level expectations and reduces the overall program length.


Objectives:

  • Provide students with the necessary English language skills for academic purposes.
  • Help students adjust to the culture of higher education.
  • Prepare students for the demands of university-level study, especially in an online or on-ground setting.

Outline:

  • The program consists of four courses totaling nine credit hours:
  • REAL 300 (1.5 credit hours)
  • COM 105 (3 credit hours)
  • REAL 301 (1.5 credit hours)
  • Degree Core or Elective Course (3 credit hours) approved by the student's Academic Advisor and Undergraduate Program Chair.
  • Students take COM 105 and REAL 300 concurrently with their final semester of the IEP.
