Program Overview

MSc Transport Engineering and Planning

This program is designed for students with a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds, including geography, planning, civil engineering, natural sciences, economics, and business studies. The course is structured around four themes:

  • Sustainable Transport: Technology and Behaviour Change
  • Designing Inclusive Infrastructure

Content:

The program consists of eight taught modules and a Master's Project (Dissertation). The taught modules are paired under four themes:

  • Theme 1: Policies and Plan Making
  • Transport Planning and Placemaking
  • Transport Policy and Finance
  • Theme 2: Methods to Support Decision Making
  • Transport Modelling and Scenario Planning
  • Transport Economics and Appraisal
  • Theme 3: Sustainable Transport: Technology and Behaviour Change

  • Changing Travel Behaviour
  • Theme 4: Designing Inclusive Infrastructure
  • Transport Infrastructure Design
  • Street Network Planning and Design

Structure:

Full-time students complete the course over one year and attend classes two days per week during teaching terms. Part-time students complete the taught modules over two years and attend classes one day per week during teaching terms.

  • Each module is also available as a short-course for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) routes.
  • Each module provides a link to its corresponding short course.
