Participants delve into the process and its variations, learn to prepare and coat plates, expose them in a camera, and develop the images as negatives or positives for subsequent printing.
Structure:
Day 1:
- Health and safety induction
- Introduction to liquid light and its working process
- Preparation techniques
- Subbing substrates for making in-camera negatives/positives and prints
- Practical demonstration and photoshoot with a large format camera in the UWE Bristol Frenchay Campus gardens
- Processing of images in the darkroom
Day 2:
- Printing negatives from Day 1 in the darkroom: contact printing and enlargements onto materials coated with liquid light
Teaching:
Teaching methods:
- Interactive lectures
- Hands-on workshops and practical sessions
- Group discussions and feedback
- Opportunities for independent practice and experimentation
Faculty:
- Experienced and knowledgeable instructors with expertise in liquid light photography and alternative photographic processes.
Unique approaches:
- The workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to liquid light, covering both theoretical and practical aspects.
- Participants gain hands-on experience with a wide range of techniques and materials.
- The workshop fosters a collaborative learning environment where participants can share and exchange ideas.
