Program Overview
This 15-credit level 7 module develops competent ultrasound practitioners through negotiated learning contracts and clinical assessments. Students engage in scheduled and independent learning, including lectures, seminars, and supervised scanning practice. Assessment includes a Clinical Portfolio and Structured Oral and Practical Examination. The program contributes towards the MSc Medical Ultrasound and prepares students for careers in ultrasound imaging.

- Scheduled learning constitutes a minimum of 28 hours but varies depending on the chosen subject specialty. It includes lectures, seminars, tutorials, demonstrations, practical classes, workshops, external visits, work-based learning, and supervised practice time in scanning rooms.
- Independent learning constitutes a minimum of 122 hours, also varying depending on the chosen subject specialty. It includes activities like essential reading, case study preparation, assignment preparation and completion, computer-assisted learning, simulator scanning, and reflection on learning.
- Placement learning involves clinical practice placements negotiated and organized by the student, with a minimum of 15 hours per week of supervised scanning for the duration of the module.
