Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking - MA - UWE Bristol:
Degree Overview:
- Focuses on experimental, forward-thinking approach to printmaking today and the future of the printed artefact.
- Explores and experiments with diverse traditional and emerging fine art printmaking media.
- Develops ideas through processes like laser cutting, enamelling, electronics, wood engraving, and lithography.
- Provides access to specialist facilities, support from master printers, practicing artists, and researchers.
- Ideal for extending practice for experienced printmakers or gaining experience for newcomers.
- Active links with the CFPR bring research expertise, opportunities for placements and access to related symposia, conferences and exhibitions.

- Content:
- Research Practice (30 credits) - Building academic skills with options focusing on practice and theory of art, media, and design. Options include Research for Practice, Critical Research, Research in Enterprise (Creative Industries).
- Developing Practice (30 credits) - Utilize and build skills to develop and realize a self-directed printmaking project.
- Practice in a Professional Context (30 credits) - Explore practice through a professional placement/project/experience aligned with interests and abilities. Gain first-hand professional experience while developing a program of study in a professional context.
- Extended Practice (60 credits) - Building on expertise, develop a body of work demonstrating mastery, culminating in the end of year degree show.
- Structure: Full-time, 12 months, 3 semesters.
- Assessment: Based on body of practical work and critical journal. Research Practice module is assessed on presentation and written essay.
Teaching:
- Seminars, technical workshops, lectures, independent study.

- Emphasis on developing creative, conceptual, technical, and professional skills with career and practice development support.

Entry Requirements:
EU Home Students:
- Normally applicants will hold an undergraduate degree in the Visual Arts.
- Applicants with other academic qualifications or professional experience are also encouraged to apply.
International Students (non-EU):
- The same academic requirements as for EU home students apply.
- Additionally, international applicants must have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with 5.5 in each component (or approved equivalent).
- UWE accepts a large number of UK and International Qualifications in place of IELTS.
