The A Level Mathematics program at LILA College consists of two levels: AS Level (one year) and A Level (two years).


AS Level:

  • Module 1: Pure Mathematics 1 (30% of AS Level)
  • Core topics: proof, algebra, functions, coordinate geometry, sequences and series, and calculus.
  • Assessment: written exam (1.5 hours).
  • Module 2: Pure Mathematics 2 (Statistics) (30% of AS Level)
  • Core topics: probability, distributions, and hypothesis testing.
  • Assessment: written exam (1.5 hours).
  • Module 3: Pure Mathematics 2 (Mechanics) (30% of AS Level)
  • Core topics: kinematics, forces, momentum, energy, and circular motion.
  • Assessment: written exam (1.5 hours).

A Level:

  • Module 1: Pure Mathematics 3 (Further Pure) (40% of A Level)
  • Core topics: complex numbers, matrices, proof, further algebra, and further calculus.
  • Assessment: written exam (2 hours).
  • Module 2: Pure Mathematics 4 (Further Mechanics) (40% of A Level)
  • Core topics: forces, energy, moments, projectiles, and more advanced mechanics concepts.
  • Assessment: written exam (2 hours).
  • Module 3: Probability & Statistics 1 & 2 (20% of A Level)
  • Core topics: further probability, hypothesis testing, and Poisson, normal, and binomial distributions.
