Academic Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree: Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree from a UK higher education institution, or an equivalent international degree, containing 80 SCQF credit points in the subject they intend to teach.
- Mathematics and English: Applicants must also have passed National Qualifications in English at SCQF Level 6 (e.g., Higher Grade) and National Qualifications in Mathematics at SCQF Level 5 (e.g., National 5, Standard Grade, or Intermediate 2).
Subject-Specific Requirements:
- Art & Design: 80 SCQF credit points from Fine or Contemporary Art and Design, covering Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Textiles, Photography, or Environmental Art.
- Biology: 80 SCQF credit points in Animal Biology, Biochemistry, Human Biology, or Biomolecular Sciences.
- Business Education: Contemporary business-related degree with 80 SCQF credit points, including 20 credits each in Accounting, Economics, and Business Management. Requires IT skills certification, like PDA Information Technology in Business or ECDL.
- Chemistry: 80 SCQF credit points in Organic, Physical, and Inorganic Chemistry.
- Computing: 80 SCQF credit points in at least two of the following: Computer Systems, Software Development, Databases, or Information Systems. 40 SCQF credits in computing relevant to the Scottish school curriculum also required.
- English: 80 SCQF credit points, 40 of which must be in English or Scottish Literature. A maximum of 20 SCQF credit points in Media Studies accepted.
- Geography: 80 SCQF credit points in Physical, Human, and Environmental Geography.
- History: 2.2 Honours degree or above with 80 SCQF credit points, 40 of which must be in British, Scottish, European, and World History. Maximum of 40 SCQF credit points in Ancient History accepted.
- Mathematics: 80 SCQF credit points in Algebra, Analysis, Calculus, Geometry, Statistics, Differential Equations, or Probability.

- First Language: 80 SCQF credit points in the language, previous experience living in a country where the language is spoken, and proven language competency.

Catholic Teacher's Certificate:

Entry requirements are highly competitive.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
- IELTS: 6.5 overall with no subtest under 6.0, taken within 2 years and 5 months of start date.
- TOEFL (ibt, mybest, or athome): 79 overall with minimum 13 Reading, 12 Listening, 18 Speaking, and 21 Writing. Taken within 2 years and 5 months of start date.
- Pearsons PTE Academic: 59 with minimum 59 in all subtests, taken within 2 years and 5 months of start date.
- Cambridge Proficiency in English (CPE) and Cambridge Advanced English (CAE): 176 overall with no subtest under 169, taken within 2 years and 5 months of start date.
- Oxford English Test: Oxford ELLT 7 with R&L: OIDI level no less than 6 (Reading 21-24 and Listening 15-17) and W&S: OIDI level no less than 6.
- Trinity College Tests: Integrated Skills in English II, III, & IV: ISEII Distinction with Distinction in all subtests.
- Undergraduate or 2+2 degree from a majority-English speaking country: Completed within the last 6 years.
Additional Notes:
- International students can also use UKVI approved Secure English Language Tests (SELT) but they are not required.
- University of Glasgow accepts evidence of English language proficiency from the English for Academic Study Unit Pre-sessional courses.
- Other BALEAP accredited pre-sessional courses are also considered.
