The BFA offers a major in Visual Arts, as well as the option to combine a Visual Arts extended minor with another extended minor in a related field (Art History, Creative Writing, Graphic Design, Media & Communications Studies, or Theatre).

Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:

  • Graduation from a recognized secondary school.
  • Successful completion of the English 12 or equivalent with a minimum 70% grade.
  • Completion of an approved Visual Arts or Design/Fine Arts 12 or equivalent.
  • (Portfolio review required.)
  • Completion of a portfolio review that meets the faculty's standards.
  • Additional considerations may be given to applicants who present mature student status, transfer credits for prior post-secondary studies, have relevant work experience, or achieve strong grades in other supporting courses.

EU Home Students:

  • Same entry requirements as above.

International Overseas Students (Outside the EU):

  • Same entry requirements as above.
  • An official high school transcript and proof of graduation.
  • English proficiency scores (as outlined below).
  • A valid passport, visa, and study permit (if required).

Language Proficiency Requirements:

  • An English language proficiency exam (TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent) is required for applicants whose first language is not English.
  • Minimum accepted test scores:
  • TOEFL - 88 overall with a minimum of 20 in each section
  • IELTS - 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each band
  • Cambridge English (CAE or CPE) - Grade C or B
  • Exemptions from the English language test requirements may be granted based on prior studies or citizenship from certain countries.

Details:

  • The Visual Arts portfolio review is mandatory for all applicants and should include artwork from across a range of disciplines.
  • The English 12 or equivalent can be replaced in exceptional circumstances if the applicant shows strong visual arts skills and potential.
