Program Overview
Students learn the technical skills and theoretical knowledge necessary for careers in the music industry, including recording, mixing, mastering, and sound design for film and television. The program is taught by experienced faculty who are active in the industry, and students have access to state-of-the-art facilities. Graduates are prepared for careers in a variety of fields, including music production, sound engineering, and audio post-production.

Year 1
Semester one:
- Music and Sound Project Level 4 (MUSI40634) This core component will provide you with 40 credits and it is designed primarily as individual practice to aid student development throughout the module by creating a fantastic portfolio of their own work which you will work on throughout the first 12 weeks.
- Creative Applications Of Digital Audio Workstations (MUSI40632) This core components focuses mainly on learning the skills in operating the equipment such as microphones as it will be your key focus for the entire year , 40 credits of your course and will be taught throughout the year with to ensure you develop throughout year with the knowledge you already know 1 .
- Music and Sound Theory And Context (MUSI40631) Focus in the semester you'll begin to work with analysis that is both written & oral to develop in your understanding on how to talk and structure music while also working on how you could potentially explain to others . This module is worth 20 credits , is core and taught on a weekly timetable of Tuesday - Friday 1
- Introduction To Studio Practice (MUSI40630). Introduction on the fundamentals of working in and how music studio works and runs as this component will explain every process behind every step sound department. This modules is also core, taught across weekly timetable 4 days in a week from Tuesday until friday and also worth 23 credits .
- Music Business And Marketing (MUSI40633),
- Events Management (BUSI50933) These two components can either be chosen, one or the other , both worth 20 credits but are optional with different teaching days in the week but both being taught across three terms , starting off in week term, followed with week in term three and finally week 1 once again in year two 4. 2 Year two 3

- Dr Marc Estibeiro is in charge, in charge of both BA/Bsc Creative Music Technology and he also lectures on computer sound. He also goes into further detail with teaching advanced Pro Tools techniques as well and other subjects such modern composition and teaching software design including some of his own software design skills 4 .

- Music & Sound (BA Music Production & Sound Technology - Senior Lecture) Sharon also works across many areas. including film productions , media including sound design, editing even in acting and performance , she’s an active researcher for both publishing as well as being published, on different topics like lighting sound and film. 3 .

is an audio-visual expert, who also has a music technology degree with many awards, he focuses more around Electronic Visual Music (evm ) as it is his main interest in research, he is also responsible of teaching evms including composition , audio visual and mastering which all three have their own separate modules to them 1.

- Doug also works across all sound technology, including running all music production courses at Staffordshire university and teaching all the music and sound degree programs in which he covers various different skills and subjects including digital recording studios fundaments and even further skills on using advance recording techniques as part of learning the fundamentals. Doug’s main focus tends more towards mixing, mastering, sampling. synthesis , audio for multimedia post and production as part 3of his teaching 2.

- Alex main focuses his teaching towards 4 various types of music production which could help future students in the working environment within the music industry as he focuses more subjects in recording studio fundamentals , using advance recording techniques to aid student’s development into that industry. Alongside those techniques he also teaches mixing mastering sampling synthesis 3 as his other areas to help future musicians and those within the sound industry .

- If you were planning on applying or just even getting a head start, we have outlined that Sound 4 is taught across two campuses, one being located at Stoke - on -Trent with the second being in London . The full-time course, with a foundation course lasts four years in total to complete your degree with the full time degree taking three. The course 1 is broken in -to four different parts: part time , full time , full - time with foundation and full time on placement for full- time . Full time on the course are broken - down, 25% time spent in lectures , seminars. 75 % time is in individual study with 0 % on work -based learning , for the foundation, it’s broken- down into 24 % time in lectures ,seminars. 76 in independent study and 0 on workbased learning. You will normally receive all of your feedback within 20 days after the date to receive all your results . As a sound designer you may even go in to the world of working for film , tv as your degree can even help with making your own soundtrack of your choice of content 2.

When studied part time, the duration of the course and the amount of fees you’ll pay each year depends on the speed at which you wish to progress through it. This is called the ‘intensity of study’. The usual study pattern on this programme enables you to complete modules totalling 60 credits in your first year of study.
