The MA Contemporary Pantomime Practice is a unique and innovative program, the first of its kind in the world, focusing on contemporary manifestations of pantomime. Developed in association with Wilkes Academy and supported by the UK's leading pantomime producers, the program aims to provide students with practical industry training and career networking opportunities through placements and work experience. The program emphasizes hyper-personalised learning routes, allowing students to develop their skillset in areas of pantomime practice they are most passionate about. Students will work with established industry professionals and pantomime experts in workshops and rehearsals to explore various aspects of the art form, including stock character conventions, audience participation, comedy routines, music, movement, magic, scenography, and design.

Year 1

Compulsory Modules:

• Contemporary Pantomime: Concepts, Theories and Manifestations: This module explores the landscape of contemporary pantomime practice, examining its history, traditions, ethical and moral debates, and social, cultural, and economic impact.
• Creative Company: Innovation and Impact: This module focuses on developing students' entrepreneurial skills and knowledge, covering topics like pitching, presenting, and managing creative projects.
• Pantomime in Action: This module allows students to specialize in a particular area of pantomime practice and work with industry professionals and experts in workshops and rehearsals to generate new material and advance their skills.
