Admission Requirements

General Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree: Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution or international equivalent before starting the program.
  • Minimum GPA: A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 on a 4.00 scale is required for admission.
  • English proficiency: Non-U.S. citizens must demonstrate English language proficiency through TOEFL scores or other acceptable proof of proficiency.

Coursework and Recommendations:

  • Computer programming: Prospective students are strongly encouraged to have taken an introductory computer programming class (e.g., COSC 1010 Introduction to Software Development at Marquette) before the start of the program and have earned a B or above in an undergraduate statistics course.
  • Letters of recommendation: Applicants can provide up to two letters of recommendation.
  • Resume: A resume is optional but can be submitted.
  • The program can accommodate students from a wide range of disciplines, including criminal justice, social science-related majors, data science, or other relevant educational experience.
  • Upon admission, official transcripts from all previously attended colleges/universities must be submitted to the Graduate School.
  • International applicants must submit official course-by-course transcript evaluation.

Specific Requirements for EU Students:

  • EU students are not subject to additional entry requirements beyond the general requirements listed above.

Entry Requirements for International Students:

  • International students must meet all general requirements and additionally submit:
  • TOEFL score or other acceptable proof of English proficiency.
  • A course-by-course transcript evaluation.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

  • Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency by achieving a minimum score of 80 on the TOEFL iBT.
  • Other acceptable proof of English proficiency includes:
  • IELTS score of 7.0
  • PTE Academic score of 58
  • Duolingo English Test score of 120
  • Meeting these requirements ensures that students have the necessary academic background and skills to succeed in the program.
