Description:
The program focuses on the key issues facing information services, including the learning community, strategic goals of the parent institution, promotion of lifelong learning in a knowledge-based society. The program also benefits from the active involvement of the University Library in the provision of learning resources and direct support to students.

Structure:
The course is part-time and fully online. Live online classes take place on Wednesday evening (6.00-7.30pm). Learning resources are posted online and students engage in regular online discussions and keep an online learning journal.

Year 1:
- The Library in its Environment
- Improving Library Practice
Year 2:
- Leadership in Libraries for the future
- Research Design and Initiation
Year 3:
- Research Design and Initiation: Introduces students to the key ideas and issues that underpin educational research theory and practice. Guides students to commence their own empirical research project.
- Dissertation: Enables students to produce a sustained piece of independent research. It seeks to improve the quality of the participants' personal and professional understanding and the excellence of their practice.
Assessment:
- Coursework can take many forms, for example: essays, reports, seminar papers, tests, presentations, dissertations, portfolios, journals, and group work.
- The precise form and combination of assessment will depend on the course and the module.
- Normally a module will have 4 learning outcomes and no more than 2 items of assessment.
- Assessment methods vary and are defined explicitly in each module.
Teaching:
- The course is taught by professors, readers, senior lecturers, and lecturers.
- Most academic and learning support staff are recognized as fellows of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
- Teaching is supplemented by suitably qualified part-time staff and specialist guest lecturers.

- Attendance and Independent Study: The organization and management of the course, including attendance and assessment requirements will be provided during the course introduction.
