Program Outline
Outline:
- Equips students with additional mathematical skills, computer-based information handling and analysis, along with communication skills.
- Topics include electrical circuits, engineering mathematics, electrical systems, electrical technology, design and CAE, and professional studies.
Year 2:
- Builds upon skills developed in the first year.
- Enhances students' analytical skills through involvement in various engineering situations and roles.
- Modules offered include control theory and applications, engineering analysis, electrical services, microprocessor design, power and communications.
Year 3:

- Offers development of key skills like project management, leadership, communication, and commercial awareness, crucial for a professional electrical engineer.
Year 4:
- Students study topics like industrial automation and control, design, industrial applications, and undertake a final year project.
- First-year students are eligible to apply for the NIE Networks Scholarship.
Other:
- Attendance: Full-time, spread over a week. Each semester has 12 weeks of teaching, and students cover 2 semesters per year. Between semesters, students complete exams.
- Teaching: Lectures are supplemented by tutorials and laboratory investigations. Practical hands-on labs are an integral part of many modules throughout the course. Case studies, group work, and mini-projects are also extensively used. The final year features a major individual project.
