Program Description:

The course combines environmental management theory and practice with GIS skills. The PgDip consists of two pathways:

  • Pathway 1 - 75% Environmental Management modules & 25% GIS modules
  • Pathway 2 - 50% Environmental Management modules & 50% GIS modules
  • Modules rotate on a yearly basis.

  • EGM715 - Web-Based GIS (15 credits)

  • EGM721 - GIS for Environmental Management (15 credits)

  • EGM801 covers key scientific topics for effective biodiversity management plans in different ecosystems, and includes social-economic factors impacting conservation.
  • EGM821 provides knowledge and skills to monitor air, water, and land pollution.
  • EGM711 introduces the fundamentals of GIS and its applications.
  • EGM712 delves deeper into acquiring, manipulating, and analyzing spatial data using various methods.
  • EGM715 explores the role of programming in the GI industry, enabling students to customize and develop GIS applications.
  • EGM714 focuses on the GI industry from the perspective of the user and professional, emphasizing the economic and social value of spatial data and decision-based techniques.

PgDip:

  • Degree in a science or other suitable discipline.
  • Applicants without a degree may be considered based on their work experience and professional qualifications.

MSc:
