Outline
This short course module focuses on developing and enhancing the student's knowledge base and practice of health assessment. This allows students to identify client health and social needs and illness status and participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating appropriate holistic management using a person-centered approach. The module introduces nurses as the first point of contact in various care settings. Using a range of interventions, students are given the opportunity to completely assess the health of clients in their care.

Structure:
- The module runs over a 12-week period.
- Attendance can vary between modules (weekly, block teaching, or alternate weekly teaching).
- Students are expected to attend all classes and be punctual.

- Explores the mental health assessment, including interviewing and observation skills
- Discusses the different types of mental health disorders
- Module 4: Social Assessment
- Covers the social determinants of health
- Discusses the impact of social factors on health
- Explores the role of the nurse in social assessment
- Module 5: Nutritional Assessment
- Discusses the importance of nutrition in health
