Program Overview
This intensive 4-day short course provides a comprehensive understanding of internationalization in business settings. Participants will gain insights into key factors impacting internationalization, analyze firm-level processes and decision-making, and assess internationalization opportunities and obstacles. The course consists of modules on internationalization strategies, global market analysis, and managing international business operations. Assessment includes a group report and presentation.

This intensive, four-day short course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of internationalization within business settings.

- Location: Belfast campus, Ulster University
- Duration: 4 days, on-campus attendance
Modules
The course consists of the following modules:
- Internationalisation Strategies & Processes: Explores the various strategies and processes used by businesses to internationalize, covering export strategies, international joint ventures, and foreign direct investment.
- Global Market Analysis: Provides tools and frameworks for analyzing international markets, considering cultural factors, economic considerations, and competitor landscapes.
- Managing International Business Operations: Addresses the unique challenges faced by businesses operating across international borders, covering logistics, trade finance, and cross-cultural communication.
Assessment:
- Report (75%): Participants work in groups of up to four to conduct research on a new international market (excluding the UK and Republic of Ireland) for a real Northern Ireland-based company. The group will produce a detailed report (max. 4,000 words) and deliver a presentation summarizing findings.
- Presentation (25%): Groups present their reports in 5-minute segments per member, followed by a question-and-answer session.

- Faculty: Experienced faculty from the Ulster University Business School with expertise in international business management, marketing, and related disciplines.
