This program combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, equipping learners with the necessary skills and understanding to operate effectively within the commercial road transport industry. Through various modules, learners gain expertise in areas such as:

The program consists of 55 credits spread across three key modules:

  • Commercial Road Transport Regulatory Compliance (20 credits) (20 practical hours): Introduces learners to the commercial road transport compliance framework and associated regulatory environment.
  • Vehicle Systems, Types, Technologies and Loading Principles (10 credits) (20 practical hours): Provides learners with an understanding of vehicle systems and technologies, as well as the principles of loading techniques for efficient freight transportation.
  • Loading and Driving Techniques (15 credits) (20 practical hours): Equips learners to apply loading principles and sound driving techniques in a loading area, ensuring safe and efficient freight transportation.
  • Sound driving techniques and strategies (10 credits) (20 practical hours): Learners gain an understanding of driving hazards and crash risk mitigation strategies.

  • Learners are responsible for supplying their own overalls, wet weather gear, and steel cap boots.

Domestic Entry Requirements:

Open entry. Learners should hold a minimum of a New Zealand Class 1 driver's license issued by the NZTA.
