About Program

Program Overview

This 19-week program prepares individuals lacking entry requirements for a medical imaging bachelor's degree. It covers essential skills, applied math and physics, human body and microbes, and chemistry and cell biology. Blended delivery combines online and face-to-face learning, and part-time study options are available. Successful completion may lead to further study in the Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Imaging Technology) at UCOL.

Program Outline

Outline:

This program is designed for individuals who want to pursue a career in medical imaging but lack the necessary entry requirements for direct entry into a bachelor's degree program.

Content:

  • Applied Maths and Physics Level 4: Gain numeracy skills relevant to medical imaging, such as algebraic expressions, metric conversions, graphing equations, statistics, and medical imaging-related physics.
  • Human Body and Microbes (Essentials of Human Body and Microbial Science): Explore the human body's structure and function.
  • Investigate microorganisms, including their effects on human health. Conduct laboratory work with real bacteria.
  • Chemistry and Cell Biology (Essentials of Cell Biology and Chemistry): Review basic chemical principles, explore properties of acids and buffers, investigate organic molecules and their roles in biological systems.
  • Study cell structure and function.

Structure:

  • The program runs for 19 weeks, including 2 holiday weeks.
  • Each week includes approximately:
  • 16 hours of in-person, online, and in-work class time
  • 20 hours of individual study time.
