The UCOL Academy Hair, Beauty & Retail Programme is a one-day-per-week program for secondary school learners (years 11-13) that provides hands-on experience in hairdressing and beauty. Successful completion prepares participants for further tertiary studies and careers in the hairdressing and beauty industry.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of fashion trends in relation to hairstyling. (3 credits)

  • Demonstrate knowledge of theft and fraud in a retail or distribution environment. (5 credits)
  • Unit Standard 25439 (Level 2):
  • Demonstrate knowledge of sustainability concepts for a salon. (2 credits)
  • Unit Standard 27640 (Level 2):
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current fashion trends and history related to beauty therapy. (3 credits)
  • Unit Standard 27641 (Level 2):
  • Describe the relevance of anatomy and physiology knowledge to beauty therapy practice. (3 credits)
