Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:


Domestic Students:

  • NCEA Level 1, with Mathematics and English

OR

  • Equivalent academic achievement or work experience

International Students:

  • English Language Proficiency:
  • Minimum entry for international learners of IELTS (or equivalent including TOEFL) General or Academic Level 5 with no band lower than 5.
  • IELTS scores must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form (i.e., combining scores from more than one test is not permissible). UCOL is a TOEFL iBT testing center.
  • Age:
  • Under 20 years of age
  • NCEA Equivalency:
  • In addition to the English language requirement, international applicants under 20 years of age must have NCEA equivalency.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

  • As mentioned above, international students must demonstrate English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS (or equivalent including TOEFL) General or Academic Level 5 with no band lower than 5.

Important notes:

  • While work experience is not a requirement for this program, it is an advantage if learners have some practical experience while completing their study.
  • Applications for Recognition of Prior Learning, including Cross Credit, Credit Transfer, and Assessment of Prior Learning, may be made on the Recognition of Prior Learning Form where a student believes all learning outcomes for a course have already been met.
  • Applications will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the UCOL Academic Statute and other relevant policies and procedures.
