Entry Requirements:
New Zealand Students:
- Must be at least 16 years old at the time the program commences.
- Must be able to understand, follow, and respond to instructions given in English.
- Must be physically able to complete the program-specific outcomes.
International Students:
- Must be at least 16 years old at the time the program commences.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English at a basic level.

- Applicants for whom English is not a first language must have an IELTS score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5; or an accepted international equivalence.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
New Zealand Students:
- Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English by meeting one of the following criteria:
- Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
- Have successfully completed an NCEA Level 2 qualification with a minimum of 12 credits in English (or an equivalent qualification).
- Have achieved a score of at least 5.0 on the IELTS academic test, with no band score lower than 5.0.
- Have achieved a score of at least 50 on the TOEFL iBT test, with a minimum of 17 in each of the four sections (Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing).
International Students:
- Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English by meeting one of the following criteria:
- Have achieved a score of at least 6.0 on the IELTS academic test, with no band score lower than 6.0.
- Have achieved a score of at least 80 on the TOEFL iBT test, with a minimum of 20 in each of the four sections (Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing).
- Have completed an English language program that is recognized by NorthTec as equivalent to the IELTS or TOEFL requirements.
