Program Outline

The MRes in Health Science aims to provide a challenging and stimulating program of taught and independent study in a discipline of Health and/or Wellbeing of your choice. This distance learning program is designed for individuals interested in clinical research, allied health professions, social prescribing, social work, health studies, mental health practice, and healthy communities.

Program Description:

• The program consists of 180 credits, including 60 credits of taught content focused on:
• Applying and analyzing different research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative) and research designs for various healthcare professions.
• Conducting a detailed scientific literature review or quantitatively-focused systematic review.
• The remaining 120 credits are dedicated to an Extended Research Project, where students conduct empirical research on a specific question or topic of their choice.
This project extends throughout the entire MRes program.
• Under the guidance of academic staff from the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing, students complete a research proposal, critically reflect on their research experiences, and disseminate their findings in a journal article format.
• The program is delivered entirely through distance learning via the Canvas learning platform.
• Students can complete the program either full-time (one year) or part-time (two years), offering flexibility.
• The program serves as an excellent preparation for doctoral studies and helps graduates apply research into their chosen personal health field of work or interest.
