This program is designed as a hands-on, in-depth exploration of the film and television industry. Students learn the creative, business, and technical skills needed throughout the entire production process: from development and pre-production to production and post-production. The program emphasizes the practical application of skills, enabling students to conceptualize and produce their own projects, as they also gain rigorous training to become professional motion picture equipment technicians.

Year One:

Year Two:

  • Writing students begin crafting short film scripts, which are then directed by their peers, crewed by students in production and camera/sound, and finally edited by students specializing in editing.

  • 42 credits at NCEA Level 3 or higher, including:

  • 14 credits from up to two subjects (approved or non-approved)
  • 14 credits in NCEA Level 1 or higher in Mathematics or Pangarau
