Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:


Domestic Students:

  • Be at least 16 years of age on the programme's commencement date for the semester.
  • NCEA Level 1 in Mathematics, English, and Physics or General Science; Or equivalent.
  • Necessary English language proficiency, a minimum of NCEA (Level 1) English or achieved at least one English proficiency outcome in the last two years.

International Students:

  • Be at least 16 years of age when beginning studies.
  • Meet the country-specific admission requirement.
  • Meet English entry requirements:
  • Overall IELTS (General or Academic) band score of at least 5 in each band; Or
  • Equivalent described in NZQA Rules and on the Unitec English Language Requirements for International Students.

For both domestic and international students:

  • If you don't meet these academic requirements, you may be eligible for special or discretionary admission.

Additionally:

  • Applicants must possess the physical attributes necessary to enable them to meet the physical demands of the trade as identified in the program regulations.
