Degree Overview:

This program is designed for individuals who want to gain a taste of the hospitality industry while earning their NCEA level 2 qualification. It provides hands-on training and one-on-one support to equip students with the skills needed for entry-level positions in the hospitality sector or further education.


Outline:

  • Length: 40 weeks full-time (34 teaching weeks & 6 weeks of study breaks)
  • Total Credits: 80
  • Structure: Full-time and part-time options available
  • Content:
  • Hospitality 1:
  • Introduction to the hospitality industry, customer service, food and beverage service, and basic food preparation.
  • Hospitality 2: Advanced food and beverage service, barista skills, menu planning, and food safety.
  • Hospitality 3: More complex food preparation techniques, restaurant operations, and event management.
  • Modules:
  • VHO201: Literacy and Numeracy for Hospitality
  • VHO202: Hospitality 1
  • VHO203: Hospitality 2
  • VHO204: Hospitality 3
